Introducing GOZEM, Africa’s Super App

Originally launched as a Togo-based moto-taxi service in 2018, GOZEM has rapidly grown from a disruptive start-up to an established provider of digital services across the continent. In that time, the offering has evolved to include ride-hailing, food and supermarket delivery, digital ticketing, vehicle financing, and digital banking, while its footprint has extended beyond Togo to include Benin, Gabon, and Cameroon.

Why did we invest in GOZEM?

  1. Mobility as an Enabler - GOZEM goes beyond just ride-haiing, providing transport operators with access to reliable vehicles while enhancing both service quality and availability for riders.
  2. Financial Inclusion for Drivers - GOZEM goes beyond vehicle access by offering tailored financing solutions that enable drivers to build credit histories, achieve asset ownership, and access a broader range of financial services.
  3. Super App for Fragmented Markets - GOZEM's multi-service approach builds engagement, cross-sell opportunities, and retention in a market where digital services remain fragmented.
  4. GOZEM Money - GOZEM's embedded financial services are set to turn millions of riders, drivers, and merchants into active participants in the digital economy.

GOZEM’s journey has only just begun. With our funding and support, the business has big plans for the future – targeting continued expansion across West and Central Africa, as well as the purchase of new vehicles for drivers, and the launch of a digital bank.

GOZEM in the AMV ecosystem.

Every investment that we make at AMV is based on a commitment to supporting high-impact businesses with the potential to drive sustainable economic growth. We don’t look for disruption for the sake of disruption. Instead, we seek out businesses that are pushing boundaries with a clear plan for long-term impact.

These are businesses that not only have the power and potential to scale, but that also contribute to the broader development of their regions – creating jobs, fostering innovation, and improving access to essential services.

GOZEM is a prime example of this approach, exemplifying the sustainable development and economic transformation that our AMV ecosystem is built for.   Just as importantly, its presence and focus on Francophone West Africa helps to close one of the continent’s major funding gaps. Typically, investment is often focused in other regions, particularly in north and south, which can lead to infrastructure gaps and less access to key services.

Our partnership with GOZEM ensures underserved markets receive the attention and resources they need to thrive, contributing to economic resilience, employment opportunities, and industry innovation. Ultimately fostering more balanced and inclusive development across Africa.

We’re proud to support GOZEM as a key strategic partner as it continues to transform markets. Our investment represents not only the backing of a business with a high potential for impact, but an opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of an innovative technology solution that will create lasting positive change for communities across the continent.

“As we continue to observe the evolution of the population's demand towards technology enabled mobility services, Gozem stands out with its inclusive, reliable, and easy to use Super App model. We are very excited to back Gregory, Raphael and the entire Gozem team in their expansion plans.” - Omar Laalej, Managing Director, Al Mada Ventures
